Community College Transfer Students

Welcome community college students! We are happy that you are considering a transfer to the College of Business Administration at Pitt.

Generally, a community college student with 45–60 credits completed and a 3.00 or higher GPA would be considered competitive for transfer admission to the College of Business Administration. In the admissions review, careful attention is also paid to your performance in math and economics courses. Grades of A’s and B’s earned in courses like microeconomics, macroeconomics, and calculus will help make you competitive for admission. Because demonstrated success in math coursework is critical for admission, it is important for you to begin taking math as soon as possible so that you can complete the necessary math coursework prior to transferring. At maximum, 60 credits are transferable from a community college to Pitt Business.

Important Note: Due to course sequencing in our curriculum, enrollment for a minimum of four semesters in the College of Business Administration is required to earn our degree, and a minimum of five semesters is required specifically to complete a major in Global Management, Supply Chain Management or the new major in Business Analytics. Prospective transfer students should plan accordingly based on their intended business major.

If you are a student at a community college in Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, or Westmoreland Counties, or in the Harrisburg area, you can work with a transfer counselor to make a long-term plan to transfer to Pitt Business.
