The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration 3+1.5 Program
The BSBA/MBA 3+1.5 program is intended for motivated, career-focused students in Pitt Business who are high academic achievers. The program allows undergraduate students to earn both their BSBA from the College of Business Administration and their MBA from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business in only four-and-a-half years.

Student Eligibility
The program is open exclusively to highly motivated freshmen entering Pitt Business who have earned a minimum of 15 advanced standing credits prior to entry to college. The advanced standing credits must be applicable to the Arts & Sciences portion of the Pitt Business BSBA degree.
Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 120 undergraduate credits, fulfill their BSBA degree requirements in three years, and graduate from the College of Business Administration. As a result, participating students pursue a carefully sequenced, rigorous course load that includes summer coursework.
Guidelines
- Complete all BSBA requirements and graduate from the College of Business Administration
- Graduate with a cumulative Pitt GPA of at least 3.50
- Achieve a total score of at least 630 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or its equivalent score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- Submit a completed MBA application with all required components by the MBA application deadline
Application Information
Students apply to the BSBA/MBA 3+1.5 program in their junior year at Pitt Business. Students are admitted into the MBA program in what would have been their “senior” year, or fourth year, at Pitt Business. Entry into the MBA program takes place in the fall semester of the student’s senior year.
Students may defer their admission to the MBA program for up to one year. Students may also opt out of the BSBA/MBA 3+1.5 program if their plans change. If they do, they will graduate with only the BSBA degree.
MBA Application Requirements
Students must adhere to the application deadlines for the Katz School’s two-year MBA and joint- and dual-degree programs.

Career Support
Students in the BSBA/MBA 3+1.5 program will receive career support from the Career Management Center at the Katz School.
First, the career team assists incoming students with obtaining an internship during the summer semester prior to entering the program. Second, the career team supports students with securing an MBA internship or co-op experience for the summer term after the completion of the spring term in graduate school.
MBA Curriculum
A minimum of 51 credits of approved graduate coursework is required to complete the Katz MBA. Credit hours are distributed to students over three terms as follows:
- Fall term – 15 credits
- Spring term – 18 credits
- Fall term – 18 credits
Students in the BSBA/MBA 3+1.5 program are exempt from certain core courses based on their academic majors.
Tuition and Scholarships
Students pay the tuition rate and fees at Pitt Business for three years. Upon entering the Katz School MBA program, students are billed the tuition and fees for the One-Year MBA program.
Students who submit a completed application prior to the February 1 deadline will be considered for merit-based and other scholarships offered by the Katz School.
