This scholarship provides tuition support and other educational expenses to students in the School of Business that show significant financial need.

The Anania scholarship is awarded to an outstanding accounting major and is based on merit. The scholarship is available to an outstanding junior who is taking the first two required courses in their accounting major, Intermediate Financial Reporting 1 and Accounting Information Systems.  The recipient will be selected by the accounting faculty and the Office of the Dean.

Requirements:

• Junior in the Fall Term majoring in accounting and enrolled in IFR 1 and AIS
• At least a 3.00 cumulative GPA
• Received an A in both Financial and Managerial Accounting

Income shall be used toward educational expenses of undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Business.

Two book awards are given annually to Pitt Business students who have overcome significant challenges on their road to success in higher education. The recipient should have demonstrated an ability to make the most of college while overcoming difficulties. To apply, eligible students are to submit a professionally written and formatted letter and resume to the Office of the Dean indicating their experiences and the difficulties that they have had to overcome to attend the University of Pittsburgh and the School of Business. Financial need, as determined by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, will play a role in the selection of the recipients.

Requirements:

• At least a 3.00 cumulative GPA
• The student must have completed 60 credits and 30 of those credits must have been completed at the University of Pittsburgh
• Demonstrated financial need

General Scholarship funds to support School of Business Students

The Curka Accounting Scholarship is awarded to a Pennsylvania resident who is an accounting major at Pitt Business.  The scholarship is based on academic merit and is to be awarded to a full-time junior or senior. A Pitt Business accounting student who has displayed exceptional academic merit will be considered for this award regardless of financial need.  The recipient will be selected by the accounting faculty and the Office of the Dean.

Requirements:

• Junior or Senior standing
• A 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher
• Resident of Pennsylvania

Ernst & Young emerging leaders in Accounting Endowed Scholarship was created to provide support to outstanding accounting students in Pitt Business. The goals of the award are to provide scholarship support to students who have high academic and leadership potential for success as accounting professionals and to use the partnership with Ernst & Young to build a more talented and diverse workforce, both here in Pittsburgh and beyond. The scholarship recipient and other outstanding candidates for the scholarship will also have contact with Ernst & Young early in their accounting program and will, therefore, be available for internship positions and other employment opportunities at Ernst & Young.

Requirements:

• Student must be a declared accounting major
• Overall GPA above 3.25
• Excellent Grades (3.5 average with no grade less than a B+) in the core courses; Financial Accounting BUSACC 0030 and Managerial Accounting  BUSACC 0040
• Excellent Grades (3.5 average with no grade less than a B+) in Intermediate Financial Reporting 1 BUSACC 1204 and one other accounting course, typically, Accounting Information Systems BUSACC 1236

Endowment income shall be used to provide financial support to student(s) in the School of Business who are participating in the University’s global experiences programs. Recipients must meet the eligibility requirements for financial need as determined by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Preference will be given to first-generation student who want to participate in Study Abroad.

To provide tuition support and other educational expenses to students in the School of Business.

Preference will be given to students from underrepresented groups or residents of the great Chicago Area.

Each year an award will be made to a Pitt Business student who has completed his/her first year of study and has shown a decided preference for continued study in Arts Organization Management. Recipients will be selected based on previous work/internship experience in the field, academic merit and financial need as determined by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. To apply, eligible students are to submit a professionally written and formatted letter and resume to the Office of the Dean indicating their experience in an arts organization as well as how this award will assist them in obtaining their goals.

Requirements:

• At least 30 credits completed
• At least a 3.00 cumulative GPA
• A background in the arts and an interest in pursuing a career in arts management

This scholarship is an internship position for students who attend Pitt Business and have obtained a full-time internship with the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence Company (IEE). This scholarship is contingent upon the student completing the whole summer internship and continuing that internship into the school year.

During the internship, the student will receive training on small business development processes (e.g. business plan development, funding, market research, etc.) and serve as a junior consultant working with a full-time consultant to enhance operations of southwestern Pennsylvania small businesses.  In this capacity, the student’s work would include but is not limited to reviewing business plans; conducting secondary market research and preparing a report on the findings along with recommendations; reviewing marketing plans and associated marketing materials; preparing financials; reviewing loan application documentation and meeting with clients; and preparing scope of engagement letters.   Interested students are encouraged to contact the Office of the Dean for more information. Final candidates are selected through an interview process by the IEE.

• Prefer that at least 45 credits are completed but not a necessary requirement

Each year a scholarship award will be made to a Pitt Business student who has completed his/her first year of study, has an interest in pursuing a major in Finance and has shown a decided preference for continued study in Banking or Insurance. Recipients will be selected based on previous work/internship experience in the field, academic merit ,and financial need as determined by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. To apply, eligible students are to submit a professionally written and formatted letter and resume to the Office of the Dean indicating their experience in the banking or insurance industries, as well as how this award will assist them in obtaining their goals.

• Finance Major
• At least a 3.00 cumulative GPA
• 30 completed credits at the University of Pittsburgh
• Previous work/internship experience in the banking/insurance field

This award provides funding for two or more students to participate in the International Internship Program.  The program will provide students with the opportunity to develop knowledge of their host country, language, and experience in a foreign unpaid internship. The fund will be administered by the Office of the Dean or its designee.

This award provides support for tuition and other educational expenses to students in their junior or senior year of study in the School of Business. Requirements: At least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and at least 30 credits completed.

Endowment income shall be used to benefit students in the School of Business.

Endowment income is to be used to provide support for educational expenses of student(s) who meet the University of Pittsburgh’s eligibility requirements for financial need

This scholarship is based on academic merit and will be awarded to a deserving accounting major who will have sophomore or junior status at the beginning of the next fall term. This award is not renewable and is a one-time gift to a different student each year.  Financial need will not play a role in the determination of who will be granted the award. The recipient will be selected by the accounting faculty and the Office of the Dean.

• Must have already taken Intermediate Financial Reporting 2
• Need to have at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA

This scholarship is an award program for students intending to global experiences in Barcelona, Spain for a full academic semester at our partner institution, Pompeu Fabra University. The scholarship is awarded to an individual based on previous language study, academic merit, and financial need and there is an application process that includes an interview with the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship is to be used by the recipient to cover expenses associated with their experience abroad.

Requirements:

• Must be studying abroad in Spain for a full semester

Endowment income is to be used to provide support for the educational expenses of undergraduate student(s) with significant financial need in the School of Business.  Recipients must be in good academic standing and must meet the eligibility requirements for financial need as determined by the  Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Awarded to students enrolled in Pitt Business, majoring in Accounting. Criteria should include academic performance, leadership potential and intended career objectives. Will be awarded by the Associate Dean of the college of business administration or his/her designee based on recommendations made from faculty & identified representative from PwC.

• At least a 3.25 cumulative GPA
• The student must have completed 54 credits
• Accounting major

The purpose of this endowment is to support Pitt Business students that are accounting majors. The selection of recipients is determined by the Office of the Dean and is based on financial need and academic merit. A new recipient of the Rattner Student Resource Fund will be selected each academic year.

• Student must be an accounting major who is a rising senior

This quasi endowment was established for the Dean’s Office of the Katz Graduate School of Business and School of Business. The purpose of the fund is to offer a scholarship or grant to deserving Pitt Business students.

Requirements:

• Student must be enrolled in the School of Business

Endowment income is to be used for educational expenses of students enrolled in the School of Business.  The student should have financial need as determined by the policies of the University of Pittsburgh, and preference should be made for students with an interest in Residential Real Estate or ROTC Cadets

This fund provides interest-free loans, up to $1,000 per term to Pitt Business students. The loan may be used to further the recipient’s business education, including tuition, class fees, room and board, books, computer equipment and software, and supplies. Students will be required to sign a promissory note with the Student Payment Center of the University, at which time they will agree to a payment schedule, and begin repayment after a one-year grace period from their graduation or separation date from the University. Students are eligible for no more than two loans. To apply, eligible students are to submit a professionally written and formatted letter and resume indicating how this award will assist them in obtaining their goals. All materials should be addressed to the Office of the Dean, 2204 Sennott Square. There are no deadlines for this loan fund and requests are processed throughout the year.

This quasi endowment was established for the School of Business to provide scholarships for accounting students.

Endowment income shall be used to provide tuition support for student(s) in their sophomore, junior, or senior year at the School of Business. Preference will be given to students majoring in Human Resources Management.

Funds shall be designated for the establishment of the Howard R. Spicher Jr. Legacy Fund to benefit students in the School of Business

Endowment income is to be used to provide an annual award known as the Wilma F. Tabisz memorial Award to student(s) in the Katz School or School of Business.  Awards shall be given to students who reflect behaviors that exhibit helpfulness to others and a selfless concern to achieve progress in tasks at hand.  Recipient will be known as models of equanimity and productivity in times of stress and difficulty.

This scholarship was created to enable Pitt Business students to accept challenging internships that prepare them as outstanding business leaders for the 21st century. Scholarships are awarded for significant, professional business internships that provide little or no compensation for the Pitt Business student. These could include young, fast-growth companies, not-for-profit organizations, or unfunded project work within a company division. Awards will be determined by the Office of the Dean and Pitt Business Career Development.

Requirements:

• Be enrolled full-time in the School of Business as a BSBA or double-degree student
• Have a 3.0 or better GPA
• Be enrolled in the Pitt Business OCC program
• Submit an application for the internship scholarship
• Submit a cover letter explaining how the internship fits into your career development and how the Tafel Scholarship could help you achieve the internship

Organization Qualifications

The organization must:

• Be an incorporated (Inc., LLC, LLP, etc.) entity
• Have an employee designated as supervisor to the intern
• Agree to complete a signed Learning Agreement, midway performance appraisal, and a final performance appraisal
• Provide the intern with a written hire letter for the internship position
  • The job must be a challenging position within the intern’s field of interest. The job must contain no less than 80% professional work in either Accounting, BIS, Data Analytics, Finance, Global Management, Human Resources, Marketing, and/or Supply Chain Management
• Provide the intern with a written and signed job description

This scholarship provides funding support to Pitt Business students who overcame challenges to pursuing a degree in higher education. To apply, students must submit a professionally written letter and their resume to the Pitt Business Office of the Dean that indicates their experiences and how they overcame adversity to attend the School of Business. Financial aid will play a role in the selection of the recipient(s).

The scholarship will be used to provide support for books, lab fees, travel, and/or other educational expenses.

• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• The student must have completed 60 credits and 30 of those credits must have been completed at the University of Pittsburgh
• Demonstrated financial need.
