Pitt Business is proud to announce that one of our very own professional business student organizations, Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), was just named the ‘March of Dimes Top Fundraising Chapter’ during the 2020 PBL National Leadership Experience!
Leading in first place, Pitt’s PBL Chapter raised a total of $4,087 to donate to the March of Dimes foundation – a national nonprofit organization that advocates research and best practices to prioritize the health of mothers and premature childbirth. PBL works closely with March of Dimes to plan their annual Dinner for Dimes fundraising event hosted at the University of Pittsburgh each October. The event features a networking dinner for all Pitt Business students to meet with up to 7 companies who have contributed generous donations to help make this event possible. These companies are Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, PLS Logistics, PNC, PwC, and UPMC.
Pitt Business commends Phi Beta Lambda for their outstanding and proactive work in planning the event as a collaborative effort from all 72 members of their organization. The group sets a great example for student leadership and professional development opportunities. PBL President Taylor Stein, and Vice President Alexander Bloom, worked closely with Pitt Business Career Development and our fellow corporate partners to ensure that the event was thoughtfully-planned and executed. Taylor Stein reflects on her experience with Dinner for Dimes through PBL as: “…as a great way for me as a freshman to network with real companies while also supporting an amazing cause. The March of Dimes is an amazing organization, and being able to listen to a family’s story was very inspirational. This event was a great way for students to make connections with recruiters while also raising money for the March of Dimes, which makes an impact on so many different families’ lives.”
We want to congratulate Phi Beta Lambda on their hard work on another successful Dinner for Dimes event, becoming the top fundraising chapter in the Nation, as well as earning this year’s ‘Pitt Business Student Organization of the Year.’ Keep up the great work!
