Pitt Business students Kenneth Datta, Matthew Acker and Calvin Spiteri placed in the Top 50 at the online 2020 FinMo Competition in October.
The Corporate Finance Institute® (CFI) FinMo Case Competition is a financial modeling case competition that attracts thousands of finance professionals and students across the world. Sponsored by CFI and the Global Corporate Finance Society (GCFS), his annual competition is designed to highlight the practical skills that employers are looking for in a world-class financial analyst. This year’s competition featured over 250 teams.
“This competition has shown me just how applicable the concepts from our classes are to real firms,” says Kenneth Datta (BSBA ‘23).
In the case, participants acted as mergers and acquisitions advisers for a real company (right?)and provided investment recommendations by assessing potential acquisition targets and how they aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
“Assisted by various Pitt Business faculty, we were able to successfully compete with teams from around the world,” says Datta. “It was a fantastic learning experience to kick off my sophomore year.”
This online competition challenges participants to showcase their financial modeling and valuation skills, knowledge, and excellence in the industry.
