What is the Pitt Business Living Learning Community?
Bruce Hall is the Pitt Business Living and Learning Community for first year students. Incoming Pitt Business first-years have the opportunity to live in a residence hall dedicated exclusively to business students that offers all the amenities of suite-style living. Bruce Hall, centrally located between Fifth and Forbes avenues and a two-minute walk to Sennott Square, brings business students together. You will live with other students who take many of the same business classes, engage in similar student clubs, and will go on your Pitt journey with you. This welcoming environment is perfect for making friends, forming study groups, and creating connections in and outside of Pitt Business.
Bruce Hall First-Year Student Experience
Bruce Hall will provide specific programming to Bruce students, referred to as “key” programs. These programs are not mandatory but will allow a student the opportunity to better integrate themselves into Pitt Business community. Programming includes:
- Employer Site Visits
- Clubs and Organizations Tabling in the Bruce Hall Lobby
- Resumania: In-House Resume Workshop
- GPA Calculation Workshop
- On-Campus Job Panel
- Adobe Workshop
Students who attend 8 of these “key” programs receive the Bruce Badge, which unlocks additional opportunities only provided to Bruce Hall Residents. Some of these opportunities include: a fully-funded Plus 3 Study Abroad Experience (1 badge holder to be selected via an application process) and invitations to participate on Pitt Business Treks to various cities, including New York City and Washington, D.C.
Bruce Hall Programs take place in the Bruce Hall Classroom located on the sixth floor of the building. This classroom is not only a space for programs provided by the business school – but also a great study space and area for students. The space has a large monitor available for students to hook up their laptops in order to practice presentations and work on group projects. The classroom space additionally has three smaller study spaces that have monitors and white boards as well.
Bruce Hall itself houses up to 170 business students. The rooms are suite style – which include a common room, bedrooms, a private bathroom, and kitchenette. All rooms are equipped with internet, cable television and on-site laundry.
